Dunethlax Al Forige Don II

A Warforged Cleric's Adventures in Eberron

The meeting at New Hope...

We arrived at New Hope in the early part of the afternoon.  As we entered the dusty, backwards, town we immediately saw one of my Warforged brethren on the ground being beaten mercilessly by a pack of rabid fleshbags.  Heggis valiantly moved forward to break up the crowd, but the young fleshbags turned on him and before we knew it we were defending ourselves.  I led my mildly competent fellows in battle, directing them in the best positions for the fight.  Within a minute or so we had quelled the rabble, bringing an end to their evil-doings.

I was actually surprised by how skinny the fleshbags were, their corpses looked starved and gaunt, so they did well to take on my brethren Warforged, who introduced himself as Aglon, thanked us and went on his way.

Once that was resolved, we headed to the tavern to meet our contact, Bartleby, who was waiting there for us as we'd agreed.  He was concerned for his workers, a group of my Warforged brethren and a few fleshbag overseers, who were mining not far away but hadn't been in contact for some time.  For a half-orc Shafar's bargaining skills were reasonably competent; Bartleby promised us a reasonable sum of money to investigate the mine.

There was a tense moment when Grift, the local law-keeper approached us about the mess outside, but we explained the situation and there was really no problem.  As the day turned in to evening the fleshbags do what they really excel at; eat, drink and sleep.  The fleshbags in the tavern appreciated being entertained late in to the night with my Warforged opera.

Thankfully it wasn't long before my fellows awoke the next day, seemingly refreshed and ready to embark on our mission.

Off to Mournland ...

Our usual contact in Mournland, Bartleby, a railroad tycoon, contacted us to let us know about a new job.  He was typically vague about the nature of the work, but I was eager to attend as my curiosity of the Lord of Blades grows every time I hear a brethren Warforged has joined his cause.  However, I am also cautious as I have heard rumours that his ultimate goal is to build an army with which to dominate the flesh-bags, turning our previous masters in to slaves.  I could never let the flesh-bags I have come to call friends be treated like this.

In fact, I could never let any sentient be be a slave having suffered it myself.

I am hoping our time in the Mourland, that desolate wasteland of filth and decay, will help me find the answers I seek.

And so it begins...

This is the journal of Dunethlax Al Forige Don II - a previously enslaved warforged living in the world of Eberron, a Wizards of the Coast, Dungeons and Dragons, campaign setting.

Dunethlax Al Forige Don II, known as Don to his companions, is a Warforged Cleric (CG L2) with male personality.

During the war the misery and carnage of killing changed this sentient machine's outlook of life.  While still a follower of the god Dol Dorn (God of Chaos, Good, Strength and War), Don is now determined to use his divine power to heal the wounded and help in good causes in anyway possible.  If that involves bashing heads, then so be it, though Don tries to avoid violence when possible.  Unfortunately, his comrades don't.

Don is extremely charismatic - or at least he thinks he is (charisma -6) and as such feels as though not only he is the natural leader of the group but also a great motivator, regularly referring to his comrades as flesh-bags with varying degrees of competence.   As such, it can be easy to convince Don that just about any cause can be considered good being convinced to 'lead' his comrades on just about any mission.

"We accept your quest - it is probably achievable by myself with a little help from my mildly-competant flesh-bag friends."
- Dunethlax Al Forige Don II

Not much is known about Don's history; he's a warforged, what is there to know?  However, Don has a stron g allegiance to all fellow warforged and this often blinds him to their motives.  It is also suspected that Don is actually a single warforged from a batch of many "Dons", as indicated by the "Don II" etched in to right shoulder blade of his warforged body.

Don's long term goals are to meet the Lord of the Blades to discern if this obviously affluent character is benevolent.  He also wishes to develop his skills of tinkering with items in to something more useful, that is, he wishes to one day become an artificer.
